He's someone from home. I wanted to know if he was here and his location. But it seems he isn't.

Who knows? You might run into him along the way. Maybe he's been keeping a really, really low profile.

If he isn't here, it doesn't matter. I was just looking to see if he was.

It's simply easier, for how this place seems to work, if he stays home.
